I was inclined to stray away
From the cliché of certain
Words on a page but
I love him.
I love him without any condition
It’s like a tradition I didn’t know I had
Until I looked him in the eyes and was
Affirmed in my suspicions
I love him.
“I love you,” he said. My heart didn’t skip or flutter
My pulse didn’t race. I accepted those words like the religious accept fate.
“I love you, too,” I responded.
I have never believed so strongly in the antithesis of hate but
This man makes everything in me rise and though I could never own him,
I know him as
My moon, my stars and my sky and I am the sun in his light.
I love him.
